We welcome the decision of postponement of local body elections: GVL Narasimha Rao
BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao welcomed the decision of the state election commission to postpone the election process of local bodies in Andhra Pradesh in the wake of the coronavirus. The election process of local bodies in Andhra Pradesh has been postponed. The state election commission has decided on Sunday to postpone the elections of local bodies in AP as the Center declared the virus a national disaster. Speaking on this, GVL said that it was a good decision to postpone the election of local bodies in AP.
GVL said it needed to be vigilant against corona. All the measures to control the virus have already been taken with thousands of tourists and travelers from abroad are being tested. Corona is also conducting tests for Indians who are abroad. Activists on behalf of the BJP also would educate the public on coronavirus. He advised the public to maintain the Indian culture of greeting by folding the hands.
While the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is upset with the postponement of elections. He along with advocate general met with the governor on Sunday and explained about the state election commissioner Ramesh Kumar who has taken the crucial decision without informing state government.
