Women Ministers and MLA's welcome AP Disha Act, tie Rakhi to AP CM Jagan
Women Ministers and MLAs have thanked Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for introducing historical legislation in the name of the AP Disha Act for the protection of women. Deputy CM Pushpa Srivani, Home Minister Sucharitha, Minister Thanetti Vanitha, APIIC chairman Roja and woman MLAs met YS Jagan in the CM chamber at the secretariat on Thursday and tied Rakhi to CM on this occasion.
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday approved the historic draft bill, which provides for verdict within 21 days when there is evidence to prove that rape committed on women and girls. The Andhra Pradesh Criminal Law (Amendment) Act -2019 (Andhra Pradesh Directive Act) has been introduced at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to give clear signals that there is no question of leaving the perpetrators of heinous crimes against women and girls.
As part of the law, special courts will be set up in each district to investigate crimes against women and children. The new legislation was drafted in accordance with the promise of Chief Minister YS Jagan in the Assembly that a new law would be adopted to curb crimes on women.
