Writer, critic Jagaddhatri ends life
Visakhapatnam: Well-known writer, poetess, critic and translator Jagaddhatri allegedly committed suicide at her residence here on Saturday. According to sources, she was very much depressed after the demise of her partner Ramatirtha, a writer and poet, who passed away in May. She had worked as a lecturer earlier.
Her literary works were published in several newspapers and magazines. She was well-versed in Telugu, English, Hindi and Urdu languages. A gold medalist in MA English, she had received R S Krishnamurthy Award for her maiden short story 'Vriksha Sthale' and presented papers in Sahitya Akademi seminars. She also contributed to columns in The Hans India. Police recovered two letters purportedly written by her before taking the extreme step.
