YS Jagan inquires about Eluru victims sample tests, directs officials to submit full report
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday inquired about the sample tests conducted for those who suffered mysterious illness in Eluru of West Godavari district. Chief Minister's Office officials briefed the CM on the details of the tests conducted so far by medical teams from the state and central governments. Officials said tests carried out by AIIMS 'team of medical experts on those suffering from the disease showed that it contained elements such as lead and nickel. It was also revealed that the details will also come soon as IICT is also conducting tests.
The CM directed the authorities to provide him with the results of the tests conducted on the victims, as well as the tests conducted on water and milk in the area, in the form of a report and also to set up a video conference on this. According to the findings of the preliminary tests, the CM directed the authorities to fully investigate how lead-like elements got into the bodies of the people of the area and the underlying causes.
Departments of public health personnel, etc. were instructed to closely examine and identify the causes and pathways leading to the illness. CM YS Jagan also reviewed with the authorities on the ongoing medical treatment for the victims and the facilities available to them.
