YS Jaganmohan Reddy seeks a chance

Chittoor: Calling it as a fight between credibility and opportunism, YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy called upon the people to give him a chance for decentralised governance which would benefit all sections of society.

Jagan, who had couple of days back stated that Modi was the most powerful Prime Minister, took a different line on Tuesday and said that he knows that the popularity of Modi was waning and there was a possibility of fractured verdict at the Centre. He said YSRCP would support any government which gives a written assurance on Special Category Status.

At the same time, Jagan lashed out at Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his "flip flop" on the issue of SCS and said that he never allowed them to raise the issue in Assembly or at other forums.

Jagan said that the 'Navaratnas' promised by him will be delivered at the doorstep and would help all sections of the people. He further said that several leaders had come to support Naidu in his campaign but none of them could give an assurance on SCS while KCR had extended full support and hence YSRCP was going with them.

He alleged that Naidu had failed on all fronts and had worked only for the welfare of the contractors and his coterie for kickbacks. He said the land pooling for capital city had turned into a big real estate business. Land from farmers was taken by force and by burning their crops, he added. He had cheated the women self-help groups by not waiving off their loans and had given a pittance in the form of Pasupu Kumkuma. Once the elections are over schemes like Annadata Sukhibhava would also disappear, he said.

Jagan said conspirators will try many tricks and the media will come out with numerous stories like the one it has spread that he went to Tirumala wearing slippers. "In fact, I climbed all the steps barefoot as a reverence to the Lord. The actor partner of Chandrababu was the person who walked the way up with shoes on and his friendly media has been spreading canards against us and our senior leader V Vijaysai Reddy, he said.
