AMD GameOn event kicks off in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Tech major AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) on Saturday inaugurated the fourth edition of its flagship annual gaming tournament, GameOn, on the sidelines of Comic Con in the city.

The two-day event was inaugurated by Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary, Information Technology, Telangana. Joel Reifman, US Consul General, Hyderabad and Andrej Zdravkovic, Corporate Vice President, Software Development & Management, AMD, were also present.

Jayesh Ranjan said, "the animation, gaming, VFX and multimedia industry in Hyderabad grew by 14 per cent last year in terms of the value of content developed and the number of people involved.

This growth is the best in the country and its because of companies like AMD who serve as valuable brand ambassadors and motivate others to look at Hyderabad closely."

The market is growing bigger as newer technology innovations and developments make the user experience exciting and enjoyable. AMD GameOn is a great showcase of the best technologies available for gaming enthusiasts, he added.

Sharing his views, Andrej Zdravkovic, Corporate Vice President, Software, at AMD said, "GameOn reiterates AMD's commitment to the PC gaming and esports industry at large in India. It is unlike any other event, because it is hosted by our engineers.

We want to bring leading edge gaming hardware and software developed by them, directly into the hands of general public, gamers and enthusiasts."

GameOn 2019 saw over 56 teams and 600 individual gamers registered to compete in gaming tournaments hosted over two days. The winners and participants stand the chance to win prizes up to Rs 20 lakh.
