Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for a 'Janata curfew', the country will observe an unprecedented shutdown today in a bid to slow the spread of novel coronavirus. The Janata curfew comes into force from 7 am to 9 pm.
PM Narendra Modi had earlier urged people to voluntarily stay indoors while public transport will be suspended and all markets and establishments except those dealing in essential goods and services will be closed on the day.
Metro services, including in Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai, will remain suspended for the day. No passenger train will originate from any railway station in the country from midnight to 10 pm today while all suburban train services will be reduced to a bare minimum as well.
