Sumalatha-Ambareesh Love Story, Did Vishnuvardhan Have A Say In It?
Late Sandalwood actor Ambareesh was known for his emphatic speech, firm conviction, and large-heartedness. He never bowed his head in front of anyone. This nature was liked by many in the industry as well as in the outer world. But the only person with whom he pleaded mercy in many ways was Sumalatha.
Sumalatha and Ambareesh were an ideal couple. It is said that Sumalatha waited for many years to make him her life partner. She had resolved to make him her husband and waited patiently for many years, it is said.
The Kannada Rebel Star who had decided not to marry in his life had to yield to her love. It is amazing to notice the two who had totally different and contradictory lifestyles falling in love.
It so happened once that Ambareesh forgot the birthday of Sumalatha. But Sumalatha was under the impression that Ambareesh would never forget her birthday under any circumstances and was confident that he would come and wish her. But this didn't happen.
Ambareesh who was known for his jolly good behaviour realised about Sumalatha's birthday late in the night. The actor who drew the wrath of Sumalatha had to move the heavens to earth to convince the actress.
Ambareesh confessed his feelings through a greeting card. He wrote on the card in different languages begging her pardon with a rose attached to it with an inscription "Rebel in Trouble", and kept it in her car. The annoyed actress-wife who noticed this gift while boarding her car is said to have gotten pacified later.
This was revealed by Sumalatha herself in an interview. However, when Ambareesh was asked about this episode during a TV interview the actor chided the anchor saying how can a male gigantic personality like him seek apologies from a lady. But when the anchor asked if it is not a common thing to happen between lovers, the actor admitted and said "I would have said "Yes' had you said this earlier," thus sparking a laughter amidst his caustic response.
When Sumalatha went and disclosed her love affair to late actor Sahasasimha Vishnuvardhan, his response was very judicious. Vishnuvardhan who knew Ambareesh very well had said "It is your fate. I do not want to interfere in this matter. It is you who has to take a call in this and decide for yourself." This detail was shared by a still photographer by the name Ashwatha Narayana.
Sumalatha who loved the actor more than her life, spent 27 years and now has lost her partner but the memories of her companionship with the famous actor will remain with her forever.
