Acting is her passion, service is her motto

Many girls come to the cinema industry to fulfil their passion and some develop the passion for cinema after coming to the industry. 26-year-old Priyanka Sharma belongs to the second category.

Her father is an Air Force officer and that had taken her to many places.

Recently, she came to Vijayawada for a social awareness programme. Speaking to the The Hans India, she shares her experiences, "I started learning Telugu on my film sets only. I always wanted to learn it in the organic way, so instead of going for a language tutor, I decided to learn it from the people around me."

She opines that acting is one of the most competitive professions in the world, but the potential rewards are extremely good.

"It requires trust and courage to expose your emotional self in front of other people. The level of which you are able to do that, can very well determine your success."

She says, "I am not a trained actor hence I always do proper research on my character and go through a lot of workshops. I also make note of all the tiny details of the role I am going to be portraying and always rehearse.

Discussion and guidance of a director are very important for me and apart from all this, research and self-improvisation always helps.

My goal is to do films that not just entertain but also stay forever in the heart of everyone."

She believes that social service is a practice-based profession, which explores every facet of human growth and development, from birth to death and helps equalise the human condition for those, who are experiencing disadvantage at the hands of oppressive individuals, systems, structures or policies.

"Social Work aims to ensure everyone person is given the dignity, self-determination, respect and empathy due to them as human beings and ensuring that policies and systems used to structure society do not have a negative impact or create vast societal imbalances.

I have associated myself with several social activities and all I want to convey is that let's focus on becoming a healthier society and let's work together for those who need us in any way possible.

We need to uplift each other and be more sensitive towards everyone than making videos of someone in need."

The film that she acted in, 'Bandham Regad' received the Best Film award in short films category at SIIMA. Priyanka was also nominated under the best actress category for her role.

Her next film 'Savaari' is very different from her previous films, she shares, "I went through a series of experiences and experiments to get into the skin of my character.

The girl's role that I am playing is absolutely the opposite of my real-life personality. I had to walk, sit and talk like her.

Initially I used to give my shots and try to sit alone for some time to avoid getting distracted from this character.

But her mannerisms are so strong that I didn't realise when it actually got into my real personality. It took me a week to completely get out of this character."
