Sports fest commences at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology
Hyderabad: A two-day 12th All India Open Inter-Engineering Collegiate Sports Fest kick started at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology (VNRVJIET) on Wednesday. About 1000 players from various engineering colleges in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh are participating in various sports events like Volleyball, Kho- Kho, Basketball, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Table tennis, Chess, Tennis, Handball and Athletics.
Regional Head, Academic Interface Program, TCS, Hyderabad, Richard King Chatragadda inaugurated the Sports fest. While addressing the players , he said that students should actively participate in sports, take time from academics and involve themselves in some sport or the other, saying that fitness is very important for everyone. He said taking part in sports gives enough fitness and that winning or losing does not matter but participation is important and team spirit can be learnt from sports.
The Principal, VNRVJIET, Dr. C.D. Naidu addressed the players and expressed his happiness that teams all over India are participating in this Sports Event. Sports enhance mental ability and fitness, he said and encouraged the teams to show sportsman spirit. The Joint Secretary, Vignana Jyothi, K. Durga Prasad said that it is a great pleasure to watch young players showcasing their talents . He added that sports are an essential activity for relaxation too and the college has always encouraged its students to engage in extra-curricular activities and sports.
The Director for Advancement, Dr. B. Chennakesava Rao said winning or losing does not matter but participation and excelling in the chosen sport is important.The Physical Director, Dr. G. Sreerama and other faculty members, staff and students also attended the fest.
