DK Shivakumar takes charge as KPCC president
Bengaluru: Congress party leader DK Shiva Kumar took over as the party's Karnataka President on Thursday and the event was streamed live for party leaders and cadres across the state.
"Shiva Kumar's Pratigna Dina (Day of Oath) as Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president was held at the party office from 10.30 a.m. following the lockdown guidelines. Only 50 people attended to the event.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, newly elected Rajya Sabha member from state Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah, former Union Minister Rehman Khan, former state chief Dinesh Gundu Rao, and party's women's wing head Pushpa Amarnath also joined at the event.
The event was started with homage to 20 martyrs of the Indian Army who died in a clash with Chinese soldiers in Ladakh's Galwan Valley on June 15. Welcome speech was delivered by state Working President Saleem Ahmed and later party's flag was handed over to Shivakumar from Gundu Rao.
