Home-delivered 'Kalyana Sappadu' goes viral
Visakhapatnam: The coronavirus pandemic has certainly redefined the way we celebrate the once-in-a-lifetime wedding.
Given the travel challenges and the need to maintain low turnout at the venue and at the same time, making the invitees happier with the wedding feast, marriage parties are coming up with innovative ideas to strike a balance.
The latest one adding to the list is a Tamil family home-delivering wedding specials along with the invite that specifically mentioned 'We request you to honour us by accepting the 'Kalyana Sappadu' (feast) that we will deliver home.
The link for the live webcast was mentioned on the card along with a password to log in. Requesting dear ones to join the virtual wedding celebrations is gaining larger significance than ever.
One of the invitees posted the wedding card on social media platforms that also comprised the list of a lengthy menu, the tradition followed to serve each preparation on 'vaazha yelai' (plantain leaf) with clear indication of numbers on the diagram.
Soon, the invite went viral garnering likes, retweets and comments. Though virtual weddings have become the rage in times of the pandemic, what drew larger attention is the home-delivered wedding feast that consisted of 18 dishes. From 'sweet pachadi' to 'vaddam' (crispies), 'paruppu usili' (dal-curry) to 'badam halwa', 'peni' with badam milk and beeda (paan), the dishes were neatly packed in attractive containers and home-delivered in a basket along with the plantain leaves.
The unique invite also indicated how marriage parties can cut down on wastage of food during weddings.
