Vietnamese iced coffee, also known as C`a ph`e da` or cafe da ( Vietnamese : ca` ph`e da`, literally "ice coffee" ) is a traditional Vietnamese coffee recipe.

Alternative names -   Vietnamese iced coffee, Cafe da

Type - Beverage

Place of origin - Vietnam

Main Ingredients - dark roast coffee, water, Sweetened condensed milk

Makes 1 serving

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons dark-roast ground coffee ( preferably Trung Nguyen premium Blend or Cafe Du Monde Coffee with Chicory)

2 Tablespoons (scant) sweetened condensed milk

Recipe Preparation

There are 2 ways to make Vietnamese coffee. The simplest method is to steep coffee grounds in a heatproof container with 2/3 cup boiling water for 4 minutes. Pour through a coffee filter into a heatproof glass.

Or use a metal filter, which we recommend. Bring a cup of water to boil. Remove top screen from the filter, add coffee, then screw on the top screen. Place filter over a heatproof 12-oz. glass or measuring cup.

pour a splash of the hot water into the filter; this will allow the coffee grounds to bloom. When coffee begins to drip through, add enough water to reach the top of the filter. Place lid on a filter and let the coffee drip for 4 minutes. If coffee stops dripping sooner, gently loosen the screw to relieve pressure.

Stir in condensed milk until blended. Add ice, stir, and serve.

Calorie count:

Because coffee contains virtually no calories, the only calories in Vietnamese iced coffee come from the canned milk. Coffee drinkers add sweetened condensed milk to taste, so the calorie content can vary.

One tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk has 61 calories, 10 grams of sugar and 1.7 grams of fat, mostly saturated. A typical recipe for Vietnamese iced coffee contains 2 to 4 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk per cup of coffee, for a total of 123 to 245 calories.
