TDP establish clear leads in Chittoor district
TIRUPATI: TDP and Jana Sena candidates are leading in many constituencies in the erstwhile Chittoor district. TDP is leading in Kuppam, Palamaner, Puthalapattu, Punganur, GD Nellore, Nagari, Srikalahasti, Thamballapalle and Chittoor while Jana Sena is leading in Tirupati. In Srikalahasti TDP candidate B Suhdeer Reddy is leading by 2529 votes over YSRCP candidate B Madhusudan Reddy at the end of second round. In Thamballapalle TDP candidate D Jayachandra Reddy is leading after second round.
In Chittoor TDP candidate Gurajala Jagan Mohan is leading by 7183 votes after second round. In Nagari TDP candidate Gali Bhanu Prakash secured a majority of 2961 votes after second round. Chandragiri TDP candidate Pulivarthi Nani is leading by 1828 votes after the first round. Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy is trailing against TDP candidate Challa Ramachandra Reddy in Punganur. YSRCP Madanapalle candidate Nisar Ahamed is leading in Madanapalle.
Among MP candidates BJP candidate N Kiran Kumar Reddy is having edge over YSRCP sitting MP P Midhun Reddy in Rajampet while TDP candidate D Prasad Rao is leading over YSRCP sitting MP N Reddeppa in Chittoor. In Tirupati sitting MP M Gurumoorthy is leading against BJP’s V Varaprasada Rao.

Rare record achieved by Butchaiah Chowdary
RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Telugu Desam Party politburo member and former minister Gorantla Butchaiah Chaudhary has achieved a rare record with his long political reign. He has set a record as the only leader who has contested in every election since the establishment of the Telugu Desam Party in 1982. Since 1983, he has contested ten elections as MLA from TDP.
He won seven elections. When the Late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao founded the Telugu Desam Party in 1982, Butchaiah Chowdary joined the party, contested the same election from Rajahmundry, and won. He also contested and won the 1985 elections. He was defeated in 1989. He won the 1994 and 1999 elections. He was defeated in the 2004 and 2009 elections. He contested from Rajahmundry Rural in the 2014 and 2019 elections and won.
In the current 2024 elections, he has registered a hat-trick victory from this constituency.
