Tirupati: The bandh call given by all party Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Samithi against privatisation of vizag steel factory evoked partial response in the pilgrim city.
Left parties have organised a dharna at RTC busstand in which a few party workers took part. No protests were seen by other political parties.
RTC buses were not operated till afternoon. Banks and other offices functioned normally. All shops remained open since morning as usual.
While some educational institutions were closed other have functioned. Political parties have been busy in electioneering for municipal corporation elections and spared no time for the steel bandh.
Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao squatting on the floor and taking part in the state-wide bandh against privatisation of steel plant.
Nellore: TDP, Communist parties, and other unions staged a protest at Gandhi statue on Friday for protection of the Visakha Steel Plant. TDP leaders K Srinivasulu Reddy, Abdul Aziz, CPM state secretary P Madhu and others were present. There has been no disturbance for transport services in the city. Public life is normal across the district.
Kadapa: In response to call given by Visakha Vukku Parirakshana Porata Committee all political parties and their related trade unions expect BJP supported the bandh against privatization of Visakhapatnam steel plant in Kadapa district on Friday.
Banks, commercial establishments hotels, cinema halls etc remained closed since the morning.
Following support extended by the government for the bandh call all public and private organizations remained closed. RTC services confined to depots across the district.
Following closure of banks lakhs worth of various transanctions were stalled all banks in the district.
Leaders and functionaries from left parties staged protests at several places demanding the BJP lead NDA government to withdraw the decision of privatising the Visakhapatnam steel plant.
Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) netted an income of Rs 93.96 crore through Hundi offerings last month of February.
This includes Rs 90.45 crore through the cash offerings made by devotees after Darshan of Lord Venkayewara in Tirumala temple and also through ' eHundi' floated by TTD for receiving the offerings from devotees online for the Lord which was Rs Rs 3.51 crore
It is pertinent to note that the income through the Hundi cash offerings 'Kanukas' reached the normal stage i.e pre-pandemic period which was monthly on an average of Rs 90-100 crore.
Speaking to media after 'Dial Your TTD EO, programme in Tirumala on Friday, Executive Officer KS Jawahar Reddy detailing Revenue, Darshan, Prasadam sale etc. in February month said TTD also netted Rs 22 lakhs income through 'eHundi' of Goddess Padmavati temple.
In all 14.51 lakh pilgrims had Darshan of Lord Venkateswara which was on an average was about 50000 daily while 76.61 lakh laddus sold in Tirumala temple in the month.

The Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu along with his family offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on Friday.
Earlier, he reached the temple through Vaikuntham Queue Complex accompanied by Deputy CM Narayana Swamy.
On his arrival at the entrance of main temple he was welcomed by TTD EO Dr KS Jawahar Reddy, Additional EO AV Dharma Reddy, CVSO Gopinath Jatti.
After offering prayers in the temple he was rendered Vedasirvachanam by Vedic Pundits. Later he was presented with Theertha Prasadams and Portrait of Sri Venkateswara Swamy by the Executive Officer.
