The word which gives excitement and encouragement in children, relaxation and relief to youngsters, medals and reputation for players and finally glory and respect to country is sports. National Sports Day is celebrated on August 29.
This day is the birthday of hockey player Dhyan Chand, who brought glory to nation by winning three Olympics gold medals. He is one of the greatest sportspersons our country has ever produced. Our country has honoured him by making his birthday as National Sports Day. It is tribute to the hockey genius.
Playing sports helps in strengthening the immune system, maintaining physical coordination, enhancing body strength and improving mental power. Despite all the physical advantages, participating in a sport also works wonders to your brain and overall personality.
Thinking quickly and responding has positive impact on a sportsman's brain. When we play sports in a group, the leadership qualities will be incresed and people can learn coordination among them by playing sports. So, all schools must inculcate sports in their timetable and help students to improve their mental abilities.
