The Revenue Dept imbroglio
The sudden crisis erupted from the Revenue Employees Association cannot be debunked (THI Dt.16-04-2019) as worthless. This department plays a major role in running the government administration, linking with the public, has been existing right from the time of royal kingdoms.
It is capable enough of bringing either reputation or disrepute to the rulers. It is an incontrovertible fact that there is a lot of scope for public complaints against its contentious style of functioning.
This does not mean that other counterpart departments are free from such complaints, but only in less, comparatively.
The entire trouble started with the TRS Government alleged sudden contemplation of merging it with some other additional departments, hither to standing-up as separate entities.
It would create a lot of administrative & service problems, like, maintenance of category-wise seniority, awarding promotions etc., if materialised.
Moreover, to my mind, as a professional service consultant, it may not be viable too, leading to filing of a slew of court cases & lengthy legal battles.
Instead, If the Revenue Department is cleansed-up, ensuring its transparency, it can become no-body's objection-matter, including the Rural peasants & farmers.
While taking-up needed cleansing-up process to make it more vibrant & active, the government can well focus its attention on some other similar departments also, which have become fountain-heads of such opacity, duly taking the service organisations into confidence, for better administration.
