2,282 drunk driving cases booked in April
Hyderabad: In April, 2,282 drivers were caught in a drunken condition. Charge sheets were filed against them and were produced in the 3rd and 4th Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Nampally, Hyderabad.
The courts awarded imprisonment to the 498 respondents and permanently cancelled / suspended driving licenses of 167 persons for a period as mentioned below. The courts imposed a fine of Rs. 49,64,400/- on traffic violators. All the violators sentenced for imprisonment were sent to Chanchalguda Jail. In addition, 4 violators of without DL were also jailed.

The respondents who were convicted in drunken drive and other cases may face difficulties in getting government jobs, passport and visa clearance. The violators who committed the offence were also counselled at TTI, Goshamahal and Begumpet. The drive against the drunken driving and other violations will continue for the safety of the commuters on road said officials.
