AITUC centenary year celebrated
ECIL crossroads: AITUC Kapra division organised a programme to mark its centenary year here at ECIL crossroads on Thursday. As part of the celebrations, CPI state council member Damodhar Reddy hoisted AITUC flag.
Speaking on the occasion, VS Bose, AITUC state general secretary, said that the union had been fighting for the resolution of workers' issues for the last hundred years. Commenting on the present governments, he lamented that various labour laws were made useless by the ruling governments and termed the acts as undemocratic.
In the early years of independence, AITUC played a key role in establishing public sector companies for improving economy of the nation with the goal of self-reliance. ECIL union leaders Sudhakar, Prasad, Joshi Kumar, Bikshapathi, Padma Rao, CPI Kapra secretary Lakshminarayana and others participated in the programme.
