BCs demand quota in admissions at Nalsar

Musheerabad: The Backward Classes Welfare Association has threatened to lay siege to Nalsar University if it failed to implement reservations in admissions. Speaking to media here on Wednesday, association president Jajula Srinivas Goud strongly opposed the statement issued by the university registrar, Akhil, that it wouldn't enforce the quota system in admissions.

He described the varsity's decision to not implement quota for BCs, while allowing quota for SCs, STs and women as "injustice." The BC leader said that the decision indicated the arrogance of the institution. He threatened to lay siege to the varsity in a week's time if it failed to give quota admissions (27%), as being done in central institutions.

Goud pointed out that all the aided educational institutions under the central government have been implementing BC reservations for the last 40 years, while expressing surprise over the decision taken by Nalsar University. He said the association would lodge a complaint soon with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and provide a platform for BC students to agitate.
