BCs demand release of population survey figures before PR polls
Somajiguda: The Backward Classes Welfare Association on Tuesday demanded immediate release of the BC population figures secured after a comprehensive family survey before holding the Panchayat Raj elections.
Addressing a press conference, association president Yerra Satyanarayana and BC Yuvajana Sangham president Neelam Venkatesh alleged that there was a delay in the release of fee reimbursement since the TRS government came to power.
They demanded a special Act to check the fee loot by corporates and steps to limit the fee. They pleaded for sanction of subsidised loans to all BCs without considering GO 16.
The two leaders stated that an all-party meeting would be convened on August 16 to secure the rights of BCs. Also, a national-level convention of educationists would be held on August 26.
They accused upper caste leaders of conspiring to deny benefits to BCs at a time when they were getting ready for securing political power.
The leaders called for unity among BCs for moving towards political power when alleged efforts were on to divide them by following a policy of splitting votes.
