Bus stop sans shelter causing hardships

With the onset of hot summer days, commuters have started to dread the heat and are looking out for ways to escape the scorching heat. "We have to bear the hot sun while we wait for buses.

There aren't enough trees on this stretch for us to take shelter under," said Rohit Kulkarni a commuter from Neredmet. School students board buses from here as well. The stop is quite a busy place and often witnesses traffic jams. Many commuters travel to different parts of the city from here.

Not having a proper bus shelter is forcing them to stand on road and scurry for cover whenever vehicles come speeding toward them. It is quite strange that the officials concerned should ignore such a busy bus stop where several buses make a halt.

Residents fume over how MLAs and co-operators are not reacting even after repeated complaints. "We face many problems due to the absence of bus stop or bus shelter near Neredmet X Roads. It is very difficult for senior citizens to wait on the main road and a permanent bus shelter should be provided at the earliest," said an elder. A few seniors, unable to stand for long, are seen, sitting on the footpath or on a few boulders nearby.
