Collector visits historic Vinayaka temple

Patancheru: Sangareddy district Collector Hanumanth Rao on Monday visited the historic Siddhi Vinayaka temple in Rudraram. Local MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy, and devotees were present.

Rao offered special pooja to the deity who is said to fulfill the desires of the devotees. He released a CD on popular songs pertaining to the temple. The shrine which has a unique history celebrates Vijayaka Chaturthi festival for 11 days.

Devotees from Hyderabad and surrounding areas visit the temple, particularly on Tuesdays, to have 'darshan' of the presiding deity who appears in special garb. According to local archakas, a special 'homam' is organised during the festival, which is celebrated on a grand scale.
