Osmania University: The state Bahujana Democratic Students Front (BDSF) on Tuesday expressed distress over the increasing assaults on women across Telangana.

At a meeting of main activists of BDSF units in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts at the front office on the OU campus, they alleged that the ruling party leadership failed to check and prevent attacks on women. It demanded stringent action by the SHE teams by increasing their vigil against offenders.

GVM Vital who presided over the meeting alleged that both the central and the state governments were allowing private universities for the benefit capitalist investors. He accused the governments of failing to fill the vacant posts in government universities.

He demanded cancellation of the appointment of IAS officers as vice-chancellors of universities and immediate release of pending scholarships and fees reimbursements. He called upon dalit bahujans to resist the increasing 'indiscriminate' attacks on them.

The meeting elected the new office-bearers of the front. Vittal was elected as president of the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy combined district unit. The other office-bearers are Botla Devaraju (general secretary), Madhavi (vice-president), Bharani (joint secretary), Himabindu (treasurer), Sai Kumar, Surrender, Dharani (executive committee members).
