Seek construction of new building without any hurdles

Hyderabad: The Junior Doctors Association organised ‘Nara Drishti Shanti Homam’ at the campus of Osmania Medical College on Tuesday.

According to Association leaders, the homam was organised to draw the attention of concerned authorities about the dilapidated structure of the Osmania General Hospital and also to overcome hurdles for construction of a new building for the Hospital.

Puja was done by Sushanth Kumar Sharma, while Dr P S Vijayender, chairman TJUDA, Dr Naresh, president OMC JUDA, Dr Mahesh, Aravind, Suvardhan participated.

It may be mentioned here that doctors at the OGH have been protesting in unique ways to draw attention of the authorities over dilapidated condition of the biggest State-run hospital.

Recently, several doctors were seen wearing helmets during their work. Earlier, they protested by attending patients in the open, but it did not cut-ice with the higher ups.

There have been multiple instances where chunks of roof of the hospital fell endangering the safety of patients, doctors and other staff members. At least five people have been injured.

The dilapidated condition of the 100-year-old heritage building has raised doubts about the stability of the structure, as consecutive governments have paid less attention saving it, allege heritage activists.

Osmania Hospital doctors had earlier protested for four months demanding safe premises.

In April, Health Minister C Laxma Reddy had assured that their concerns would be addressed.

GHMC had declared the building unsafe, while the Telangana state medical infrastructure development corporation had said at least two floors were unsafe.
