Corporator Shanti assures road in Raghavendra Colony
Nacharam: Coordination lapses among government departments have made it tough for the people living in Raghavendra Nagar.
The GHMC officials made all arrangements to lay a road at the colony, behind Vyjayanti theatre, 10 months ago. But the locals sought a pipeline first to overcome drainage issue which they had been facing for long. Local corporator Shanti Shekar could mobilise funds for laying pipeline. But the contractor did not start the works for some time.
When people again pressurised the officials, pipeline works were completed at last in March. But, works on roads were not taken up. Locals have been facing hardships without a road in their locality.
Praveen, a resident of the colony, said they have been facing troubles in commuting on that stretch. "It becomes very difficult when it rains," he said. Locals demand that the officials begin the road works at least now.
In fact, the GHMC should complete such kind of road works before the commencement of monsoon. But officials at Kapra circle are not considerate, the people complained.
Responding to the issue, corporator Shanti said funds were ready for construction of the road. "Works were delayed due to laying of drainage pipelines. Construction will commence soon," she assured.
