Damaged roads, open manhole pose danger

Talabkatta: For the past three months, the residents of Talabkatta Road No. 1 in Yakutpura division have been facing immense hardships in traveling on roads, as road are left damaged after the drainage pipe line works are completed. The locals living near these complained about the pathetic road condition to the authorities, but no action has been taken.

The whole stretch of Road No. 1 in Talabkatta is dug up for the drainage works and now the roads are bumpy and with a heap of mud and broken bricks, commuters are finding it difficult to commute on the bumpy road. Also, it has the open manholes which is filled dump garbage which emitting foul smell making it difficult to live.

"Almost 3 months were completed after the drainage pipe works and the whole road is left damaged and even after the months were completed the manholes were left open. These open manholes are filled with garbage and the place was flooded in the recent rains in city," said Mohammed Ifteqar, a resident. He also said that the open manhole was creating a big problem for the small children. Due to the open manhole many insects and foul smell is formed.

A frustrated resident, Syed Ghouse, said, "For completion of the works hardly 15-20 days will be enough. But the works have been going on for almost 3 months and the residents are suffering a lot.

Due to damaged roads and open manhole we residents have no place to walk commute or to park a vehicle, as almost the entire road is damaged. Even to walk near the open manhole poses danger." He also said that as the GHMC was busy constructing the road in other areas and neglecting this area, the people had lodged many complaints with the authorities about this problem, but it remains neglected.
