Every Friday to be Haritha Friday

Hyderabad: The Haritha Haram programme taken up on Friday proved to be a super success, as six lakh saplings were planted in the Greater Hyderabad limits in 30 circles by several MLAs, corporators, besides Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, members of colony welfare associations, women's groups, basti committees.

In Prashanthnagar of Chandanagar circle, the Mayor himself planted saplings while GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore did so in Gurnadham Cheruvu in Miyapur. Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy and local MLA Kaleru Venkatesh planted saplings in the Ambarpet electric crematorium. Kishore announced that henceforth every Friday would be observed as Haritha Friday as part of taking up the programme on a war-footing.

Former minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy planted saplings in Bharat Scouts and Guides premises at Domalguda, along with the local corporator.

In LB Nagar, MLA D Sudhir Reddy and MLC Egge Mallesham participated in the Haritha Haram programme in GSI, Bandalguda, by planting 835 saplings.

In Sai Colony of Mallapur and T B Colony in Uppal constituency, MLA Bethi Subash Reddy, along with GHMC Additional Commissioner Kennedy and corporators, not only planted saplings but also distributed them to residents.

Khairatabad legislator Danam Nagender and local corporator Manne Kavitha planted and distributed saplings in Venkateswara Colony and at JVR Park. Film actor Naresh participated in the green programme in KK Park, Madhuranagar, Jubilee Hills, along with MLA Maganti Gopinath. They planted saplings and also distributed them to local residents.

In Lingojiguda, Corporator Mudraboina Srinivas Rao supervised free distribution of 2,000 saplings. Qutbullapur MLA K P Vivekananda and Corporator Ravula Seshagiri participated in the Harith Haram programme in Gajularamaram and at Sriveni Enclave Park in Sairamnagar.

Musheerabad MLA Muta Gopal took part in the programme in Indira Park, while Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin joined the event in Borabanda.
