Heavy rush at Fever Hospital
Hyderabad: The outpatient count in Fever Hospital in Nallakunta is increasing day by day. The count on Tuesday reached 1,500 and on Wednesday, the count exceeded 1,600. Most patients complain of fever.
Many had to return as the OP is from 9 am to 12 noon – such is the turnout of patients. There is a spike in the number of patients. Last year, on this very date, the outpatient count was 846. Viral fever, malaria and dengue cases are reported.
The hospital does not have enough equipment and as a result, patients are referred to other hospitals. Vijaya Lakshmi, a senior doctor, says, "Due to lack of ventilators we are referring patients to Osmania General Hospital and Gandhi Hospital." She further added, "We are providing two ambulances which are available 24 hours and more than 450 beds."
"There is a lot of pressure on us as the staff is less. Every year after the monsoon we see a rise in the number of patients," said nurse who did not want to be named.
