Hyderabad: All Commissionerates gear up for elections
Hyderabad: The IPS officers in the city will visit the DRC centers, polling locations and stations, ahead of the upcoming GHMC elections in Hyderabad.
The instructions to IPS officers were issued by the commissioner of police, Hyderabad, Anjani Kumar, on Friday. The Commissioner in his order noted that the senior IPS officers shall visit these centers and take stock of the situation. Each officer shall visit 2 DRC centers and 3 to 4 polling stations within their jurisdictions.
The Commissioners of Cyberabad and Rachakonda also issued advisories and instructed to the political parties that, in view of the upcoming GHMC elections prior permission from the police department is necessary to organize or conduct any meetings, processions, padayatras, rallies or mobile publicity etc…
V C Sajjanar, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner, noted, "Cyberabad police Commissionerate is covering 38 GHMC divisions in 19 police stations with 20.5 lakh voters. A total of 2569 polling stations covering 674 polling locations are in Cyberabad." He further added, "A total of 243 polling locations covering 770 polling stations are identified as sensitive. A total of 179 route mobiles are deployed to cover the polling locations."
"As the Model Code of Conduct has been in place, a meeting with all political parties has taken place and we sensitised them about the MCC. Also, all police officers of different ranks were instructed to stay alert. ACPs are designated to each GHMC circle as nodal officers for coordinating with elections authorities and 2 polling location officers (PLOs) are appointed for each polling location," explained the officer.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat noted, "As the MCC is in force now, so it is mandatory for any political party to obtain permission before planning or organizing any kind of activities such as, rallies, processions, padyatras etc… if anybody is found to be violating the MCC, then strict action will be initiated against them."
