Arundhati Nagar to get retaining wall says A Pavani Vinay Kumar

A horticulture graduate from Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University (PJTSAU), the newly-elected corporator A Pavani Vinay Kumar, from Gandhinagar (ward 89). wants the division to turn clean and green in next five years.

Imbibing the 'Swachh Bharat' spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was decided to take up corporator-led clean and green drive every Saturday in each locality of the division for the next five years, she said. On the major issues in the division, she informed that 60 to 70 issues were taken up with authorities and resolved.

However, a major problem is in Arundhati Nagar, which was fully inundated in recent floods. Lack of a retaining wall to the Musi abutting the area is posing an inundation threat. Some efforts were made, when BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya was the MP from Secundrabad for the retaining wall. But, later it was stopped for unknown reasons. Local MLA made officials put up a metal mesh to prevent pigs from entering the area. But, it was damaged during the floods.

Lack of cement roads and a dysfunctional drainage system is posing problems to people in almost all areas, such as Arundhati Nagar, Sabarmati Nagar, VV Giri Nagar, Anna Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Vivek Nagar and Sanjeevaiah Nagar. Another issue is growth of trees beyond road margin and creating problems at several places. Some are also falling on houses causing damage. "I am going around colonies to thank people for electing me. At the same time, recording their complaints," she said.

"In the next round of my visit, I will meet residents in apartments. They say they have been paying taxes, but, no one is hearing their problems. They don't ask much, except a good drainage system, speed breakers to prevent accidents in their area, and drinking water supply. In the days to come, the issues will be taken up and problems solved," she vowed.

In line with the call given by the party, she said it was also decided to conduct health/ eye check-up camps. Whenever possible, employment drives would be taken up to provide jobs to young people in the division, she added.
