Hyderabad: Demand for free wifi in colonies

Free wifi

One of the highly developed divisions in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits - Kothapet is free from all routine civic problems like bad roads, water logging, drinking water crisis and law and order problems. The only demand from the locals is the provision of 'free wifi' facility for them in colonies, particularly in community halls and public parks. Most of the residents of the Kothapet ward are retired employees who don't complain about routine problems faced by denizens living in other wards. However, they have been demanding access to wifi in their localities.

"My entire street is hygienic. The government is providing every basic facility in the colony. The only demand is to extend free wifi which would help us to access information and required services being provided by the government online' retired bank employee M Subramayam said. He was spending Rs 1000 per month for wifi for all his family members in his three bedroom apartment.

IT costs more for him because he is a retired employee. The TRS has promised free wifi for all in 2016 GHMC elections but it was not fulfilled yet. The colony people will be grateful if the government provides wifi services in the coming days. In recent times, the residents complained of growing dog menace in some colonies in the division and the issues had already been brought to the notice of local BJP Corporator Radha Dheeraj Reddy recently. The other demands include maintenance and cleanliness of public places on a daily basis especially in view of the Corona pandemic.
