Hyderabad-based Wings Cultural Society is presenting 'Topi Ki Dastaan' at The Auditorium, Max Towers, Sector 16B, and Noida, on Saturday, 20th July 2019. The play is directed by Tarique Hameed.

'Topi Ki Dastaan' is a team effort of six talented theatre artists which is unique in its own way. The team first performed this "Dastaan" at The Jawaharlal Nehru University and took it to various other states and this performance would be the 25th show.

'Topi Ki Dastaan'or 'Topi Shukla'as famously known is a story about tumultuous relationship between two Hindu Muslim friends, namely Topi and Iffan. The Dastaan is about these two childhood friends who grew up in a multicultural, homogenous environment before the political partition and creation of India and Pakistan as two different Nations made out of one.

The Dastaan infuses true emotions and feelings of these two friends representing their religion, cultural identities and political inclinations. It also reflects the conflicting mindsets of other common people who experienced this great division. It indicates the fears, love and many more emotions that still bombard our minds here and across our border.

The group feels that the show conspicuously conveys the idea of love, brotherhood and oneness among the fellow beings and touches upon the sensitive understanding of partition and its effects on both the sides.

The play written in the early by Dr Rahi Masoom Raza who requires no introduction. It was the power of his dialogue writing in B R Chopra's television serial 'Mahabharat' that would bring a halt to all activities as people sat glued to their TV sets in 1988-90. He was the recipient of three Filmfare Awards for dialogue writing.
