Wings Cultural Society conducted a dramatic book reading session 'Topi Ki Dastan' based on the book by Dr Rahi Masoom Raza

Wings Cultural Society recently conducted a dramatic book reading session 'Topi Ki Dastan' at Lamakaan. The session was based on a Hindi novel 'Topi Shukla' written by Dr Rahi Masoom Raza in the early sixties. Dr Masoom Raza also penned the dialogues for the epic TV serial 'Mahabharath'.

Giving details about the reading session Tarique Hameed, the director of the event said, "I wanted to do a play on it, but when I started reading the novel, I thought that it was not possible to convert it into a play. It is a contemporary novel and we thought we should do the dramatic reading instead of a play."

The dramatic reading session had been conducted 24 times across in India in cities like Lucknow, Patna, Jabalpur, Udaipur, Mumbai, and Delhi. "We edited the novel and covered the whole story.

As it was a dramatic reading, when you listen to it and close your eyes you can watch the whole play. It takes you into the world of imagination as it is expressing in the reading and also the music makes you feel each and every bit of the book like a play," he said.
