Suraram division under Quthbullapur zone, the unreserved division is being represented by corporator Manthri Satyanarayana since 2016 after he won on the TRS ticket with 10,973 votes against the nearest rival Manne Raju Kay of TDP who received 6,313 votes.

Suraram majorly consists of densely populated slums living in very pathetic and unhygienic conditions. The colony lacks basic civic amenities and faces problems like overflowing of sewage water, poor state of condition of Katta Maisamma Cheruvu, no proper bus stop and burning of trash in empty plots.

The crucial issue is that the entire division lacks proper sewage lines and sewage water entering into the lake. Locals are facing inconvenience due to water logging, which not only inundates the lanes but also enters the houses. Adding to this there is no bus stop towards Shapur road and people going towards Shapur have to stand under the sun without any shelter.

Other major issues concerning the residents is that half of the Suraram main road is covered with a huge rock stone that is causing hardships to the locals, internal roads are damaged and the entire division lacks parks.

Issues expressed by the locals

"The Katta Maisamma Cheruvu needs urgent attention, as the recent heavy downpour led to lake water overflowing and entering residences.

The re-carpeting of internal roads has been a pending issue, and there is no bus stop at the main road towards Shapur Nagar. We have registered several complaints to the GHMC officials concerned, but no action has been taken yet. Various promises made by the corporator like laying of proper sewage pipeline has remained unfulfilled," said J Subash, a resident of Suraram.

"One of main concerns in our colony is that a huge rock blocks one side of the main road which is causing many accidents and difficulty in commuting," said G Ramesh, a resident of Shivalaya Nagar.
