IAF Academy holds Swachhta Pakhwada at Dundigal
Dundigal: The Air Force Academy (AFA) observed Swachhta Pakhwada on Saturday. As part of the plogging drive, the Air Force personnel and their families covered a distance of 3 km and collected plastic waste in and around the domestic area, shopping complex and office areas.
Officials said that in the coming days, debates and discussions, lectures, Nukkad Natak and painting competitions would be conducted to spread awareness on use of plastic.
The Air Force Academy instituted several measures such as prohibition on use of single use plastic products, segregation of plastic waste, conversion of waste into
manure etc to curb the menace of the plastic and reduce carbon print in the Academy. While participating in the event, Air Vice Marshal DK Awasthi, Deputy Commandant, urged the personnel to keep their respective living area and offices free form plastic waste in order to achieve the vision of AFA towards 100% plastic free campus.
The awareness programme conducted at the Academy proved to be quite effective in educating the residents about harmful effect of the plastic and discouraging its use to keep the Earth clean and green.
