Inner Wheel Club adopts peacocks for 5th yr in row
Bahadurpura: The Inner Wheel Club of Secunderabad on Friday adopted five white peacocks in the Nehru Zoological Park for a period of one year, which will be the 5th straight year by the Club in adopting these birds. They presented a cheque for Rs 20,000 to the Curator of Zoo, N Kshitija, as part of the programme.
According to the zoo authorities, members of the Club led by Vinita Harnathka, the District Chairman, Mamta Jain, the president, Lata Shah, the Secretary, Nishreen Lahry, editor, Anita Jhunjhunwala, treasurer, visited the zoo in the afternoon and offered to adopt five birds (White Peacocks) in the zoo for one more year. Later following discussions with the Curator, they presented the cheque of Rs 20,000 towards the adoption.
The Curator thanked the members of the club for showing keen interest in adopting the birds for the consecutive 5th year, thereby strengthening wildlife conservation programme in the zoo. She also appealed to the citizens to come forward in more number towards the adoption of animals in the zoo.
Vinita Harnathka said that she was very much impressed by the way the animals were being taken care. She also found Hyderabad's Zoo to be the best. "I had been to many a zoo in the world, but in the comparison our zoo is the best," he added.
