Institute of Metro and Rail Technology trains Nigerians in rail technology

Hyderabad: Institute of Metro and Rail Technology (IMRT) organised a valedictory function for Nigerian participants of the short-term programme on Railway Engineering & Management at its Secunderabad campus on Thursday. RK Thoopal, former CEO of Central East African Railways and Former Member Traffic, Indian Railway Board, attended the programme as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Thoopal said it is not only pioneering education in Railway Engineering & Management, but also offering world-class education to international students.

The 10-week training programme included both classroom interactions and field visits. The programme covered various topics, including railway track technology, bridges, tunnels, railway operations & infrastructure management, railway traction, signalling & communications, railway economics and planning and high speed railway.

On the successful completion of the course, the participants received their certificates from Thoopal. This is the first international programme that has been successfully completed by IMRT since its inception.
