KCR govt neglecting promotion of Urdu
Charminar: Lashing out at the TRS-led government for following in the footsteps of the previous Congress government with respect to promoting Urdu language in Telangana, the Urdu Journalists Association (UJA) demanded that the state government release the sanctioned budget immediately to the minority welfare department for the welfare of minority community in the state.
In a media statement, the association leaders stated that instead of implementing the welfare schemes meant for the welfare of minorities by releasing the sanctioned budget, the TRS government was merely busy blowing its own trumpet of being a 'people-friendly government' all over the state. The current situation is nothing different from the previous Congress regime.
So far, only announcements were made to implement Urdu as official language. Jobs for Urdu people and even huge budget allocation for Urdu Academy were promised, but the government failed to keep its word.
Lack of funds has become a serious constraint for Urdu Academy to implement the schemes meant for the development of Urdu in the state. Recently, the posts of Chairman of Urdu Academy and Secretary were filled with Moulana Muhammed Raheemuddin Ansari and M A Waheed respectively.
But, they were helpless for want of powers and funds, the UJA alleged. Syed Osman Rasheed of Urdu Journalists Association urged the Chief Minister to take steps for releasing the funds immediately to Minority Welfare Department.
