Madhavaram hoists tricolour at BJP office

Kukatpally: Medchal BJP district president Madhavaram Kantha Rao on Tuesday hoisted the national tri-colour in the party office here to mark the Telangana Liberation Day.

Addressing the gathering, he criticised Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for allegedly cheating the people by going back on his assurance of officially celebrating September 17 as the Telangana Liberation Day after coming to power.

Rao alleged that KCR lied by claiming that he had not given any such assurance after the party was voted to power. This, he claimed, was 'disgraceful'. The BJP leader pointed out that while the country won its independence on August 15, 1947, Telangana was freed from the clutches of the Nizam on September 17, 1948.

Rao said that Maharashtra and Karnataka, which were parts of the Hyderabad State, have been celebrating the liberation day officially, while Telangana was not. This was regrettable, he said.
