Majlis Bachao Tehreek leader condemns National Investigation Agency raids in Old City
Chanchalguda: The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) sought clarification from the State Government on Sunday over the raids by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in which some Muslim youth were arrested over alleged links with ISIS.
Speaking to media, MBT leader Amjedullah Khan said that any national agency cannot raid in any area within a State, without taking permission from the State Government. He asked the State Government and Home Ministry whether NIA took prior permission in conducting the raids, as there was no clarity or any official statement in this regard from the State government. He requested the State government and NGOs to raise their voice against the raids in different parts of the Old City.
It may be mentioned here that on Saturday NIA conducted raids in areas like Rajendarnagar, Shahstripuram, Kings Colony and the surrounding areas and took into custody Taha and some others. As per the media reports, Taha was picked up because of his links with Mohammed Abdul Basith and Mohammed Abdul Qadeer, who were arrested in 2018.
Amjedullah Khan also said that the raid was also conducted near the house of AIMIM party Chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Shastripuram. He wondered as to why the party that claims of championing Muslims and helps the community failed to react over the matter. Not even a single MLA, out of the 7 MLAs, gave any statement regarding the raids and the arresting of 5 Muslim youngsters from the Old city, he lamented.
