GHMC election a farce: Majlis Bachao Tehreek
Hyderabad: While terming the GHMC election as nothing but farce, the MBT (Majlis Bachao Tehreek) alleged it as just another event of 'bogus voting', which was highlighted by the media, which exposed the false contention of Election commission of conducting a free and fair polls.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Majidullah Khan, President MBT held that taking cognizance of the media reports and complaints from several contesting candidates the SEC is morally bound to answer to the people and clear it's stand whether 'bogus voting' took place or not.
Demanding a statement on this issue from Chief Election Commissioner, he alleged that it was like free for all as police machinery colluded with MIM party in Old City and MLAs violating High court orders and were seen entering polling booths with rowdy elements and creating havoc and capturing booth to which no police officer tried to arrest them. "The presiding officers and polling agents were left at the mercy of rowdy elements'', he said.
Further he said that making mockery of democracy, without any documents and voter identity verification voters were allowed in all polling stations in the old city. "If any polling agent questioned these, he was driven out of the polling booth by police officers, thereby helping MIM rig elections.
This clearly exposed the nexus between MIM political mafia and police officials. The election commission should take urgent note and order for a high-level enquiry and call for all candidates to lodge their complaints to restore the people's confidence in SEC and democracy," he noted.
Majid Ullah Khan demanded that with Central Election Commission take serious note of the complaints and media reports of bogus and rigged GHMC Election 2020 and order for a thorough enquiry into the total collapse and failure of State Election Commission and the Nexus between MIM and police department.
