Miralam Eidgah all set for Bakrid celebrations

Bahadurpura: In view of the prevailing weather conditions, the TS Wakf Board will be arranging water-proof shamiyanas for helping namazis take part in Eid prayers without a hitch. Being biggest Eidgah in the City, thousands of devout take part in prayers each year at the Eidgah abutting the historic Miralam tank.

Disclosing about the arrangements to media persons, TS Wakf Board chairman, Md Saleem informed that given the current atmospheric conditions rains may continue in the coming days, hence it has become necessary for the authorities to ensure proper arrangements were made keeping in mind various factors.

He said that the Wakf Board staff shall remain alert, while coordinating with various departments like GHMC, HMWSSB, Police and other departments on the eve of Bakrid. "Wakf Board is open to all kinds of complaints to ensure people celebrate the festivities without a trouble," he asserted.

Earlier, during the review meeting of officials chaired by the chairman, the GHMC officials assured to maintain cleanliness and informed that black plastic bags were being distributed for easy disposal of the animal wastage following sacrifice on the day of Bakrid in each of the household.

While officials of Electrical Wing (GHMC) assured to arrange about 600 lights in the Eidgah premises. Local police officials also elaborated on the bandobast arrangements where both traffic and law & order wings would be coordinating. They informed that separate parking spaces were being arranged for different kinds of vehicles and pickets as part of bandobast.

"A patrol vehicle will be stationed at the main entrance of the Eidgah, while a two-wheeler will be ready inside Eidgah along with several policemen monitoring the situation. We shall remain stationed at the premises of the Eidgah from early morning till completion of the prayers," police said.

While others attending the proceedings informed that like earlier occasions, they were expecting the Waterworks department to arrange clean drinking water, besides water for ablution (wazu) purposes within the premises at designated spots. Some of those present on the occasion brought to light about the bad road condition at the Eidgah and the menace of stray dogs, which can be dealt by seeking assistance of veterinary doctors.
