Update: 2019-08-02 00:30 IST

Nampally: TPCC Doctors cell vice-president Kammampally Satyanarayana on Thursday said the party was extending total support to all the doctors who were staging protests across the State opposing National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill. He said the bill introduced by the Centre was undemocratic as it would deprive the poor and needy people of having access to quality healthcare services.

Speaking to mediapersons, Satyanarayana alleged that the NMC Bill was aimed at encouraging conventional medicines prescribed by Yoga gurus at the cost of modern medicine. He also said the Bill would shrink the scope of medical education to the poor students in the country. He also said it was unfortunate that the ruling party did not oppose such a draconian bill in Parliament.

Satyanarayana said the bill would give full support to corporate hospitals and companies. Commenting on the status of health sector in the State, he alleged that most of the government hospitals did not have proper facilities, including essential medicines to serve the poor people.
