Open sewage nauseates Rahamath Nagar people

Yousufguda: An uncovered open sewage in the neighborhood has become an issue of concern for the residents of Rahamath Nagar in Yousufguda. Open sewage is poorly fenced and the Rahamath Nagar area is becoming a breeding ground for insects amid apprehensions of health risks posed by open drain.

A resident claims that the open sewage has been lying uncovered for the past 20 years and its impact on residents in the area is getting worse year after year. "The stink from the open sewage here is disgusting. We have raised the issue with municipal officials many times but they have only come up with temporary measures," said Shubhash, a shopkeeper near open sewage.

The residents lamented they can't even keep windows open at anytime of the day as mosquitoes rides homes. "For some sellers, the open drain has become convenient to dispose waste in it; fishermen are flexible to sale fishes at the open sewage without having any thought of caution on health. The GHMC has failed to resolve the issue, despite frequent complaints" said Dr. Prasad, a resident of yousufguda.

"The foul smell is very disgusting from that open sewage and I wonder how people buy food at this place. In addition to the open drain there is a alcohol consumption place in neighborhood, to walk through the lane it is much inconvenient and scary that, I am afraid every day to walk from this lane as people consume alcohol and creates ruckus for no reason and some unidentified persons also be commenting on the everyone who walks through the street." said Vani Sri, Marketing executive, residential at video galli, Rahamath Nagar.
