Panther rescued by zoo staff
Bahadurpura: A 5-year old panther was rescued by Zoo authorities in Nalgonda district, after it was trapped in a snare in forest area. The big cat which sustained injuries is now recovering under supervision of veterinarians in Nehru Zoological park.
According to the zoo authorities, after receiving information from DFO (Divisional Forest Officer) of Nalgonda in the morning about a panther getting trapped in a snare in Agilapuram Tanda near Marriguda village in Nalgonda district, a zoo rescue team lead by Dr Asadullah, the veterinary assistant surgeon of Nehru Zoological Park, rushed to the spot and rescued the animal safely by way of chemical immobilization.
"The panther which is rescued is about 5 years old and is a male. He was trapped in snare kept by farmers for trapping the wild boars. It suffered suffered injuries and is brought back to the veterinary hospital of zoo in the afternoon.
At present, he is under medical care and supervision of veterinarians and condition remains stable. We request all not to set up snares or any such activity to harm the wildlife. Please join hands with us in spreading the message of conservation," said N Kshitija, the Zoo Curator.
