Pollution Control Board urged for revival of Trimulgherry Lake

Update: 2019-06-20 01:10 IST

Trimulgherry: Vexed over the inaction by the authorities concerned in stopping sewage from being let out into Trimulgherry Lake, the residents once again sent a written application to Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) on June 18.

They say that they have been writing letters to the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to address the issue and rid the lake of pollution and restore it its past glory. Release of sewage into the lake has polluted it completely. Last April, responding to residents' complaints, TSPCB inspected and collected samples from the lake.

In its report, the TSPCB stated that lake falls under 'E' Category as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) norms. It then asked the GHMC to take immediate action to prevent release of sewage water into the lake but no action is taken till date. Residents of Malani Enclave and adjacent colonies are the most affected. Water gushes into the bylanes during rainy season.
