Poor, too, will get to celebrate Bathukamma

Abids: The Minster for Animal Husbandry, Dairy, Fisheries and Cinematography, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, said on Tuesday about 1.02 crore sarees would be distributed across the State to women on the eve of Bathukamma. He was speaking at the saree distribution programme organised at Goshamahal.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that Bathukamma festival has gained prominence after the formation of the State although it has been celebrated since many years.

He said that CM KCR started the distribution of sarees as he wanted to see poor women celebrate the festival happily. Equal importance is being given to festivals of all religions as the CM KCR gives equal priority to all religions, he said. About 15.4 lakh sarees would be distributed in the city, he said.

Former MLA Prem Singh Rathod, corporators Mamata Santhosh Gupta, Mukesh Singh, Parameshwari Singh, Shankar Yadav and others attended the programme.
