Swachh Bharat hinges on Safai Karmacharis
Ameerpet: The National Safai Karmacharis Commission chairman Valji Bhai Zala and commission members Jagadish Hiramani participated in Swachh Bharat programme at DK Road in Ameerpet and Mythrivanam areas on Tuesday. Zonal Commissioner Musharaf Ali, commission secretary Narayana Das also participated in the programme.
Asserting the importance of sanitation workers, Valji Bhai said, "Sanitation workers play a vital role in making Hyderabad a Swachh city. Safai workers are protecting the health of Hyderabad citizens just as soldiers are protecting the country." He called for ban of plastic carry bags and items.
Jagadish Hiramani said, "We are working on completely eliminate manual scavenging and introduce machine operated system. He directed officials of all state governments to process the rehabilitation of all workers who are dependent on manual scavenging. "They clean the roads and areas filled with garbage and waste.
The sanitation workers have become an inspiration to the denizens to participate in such programmes. They conduct plogging and also collect plastic wastes in their areas." Later, the commission members visited public toilets maintained by Valmiki Asociation in Ameerpet.
