Security tightened for elections: Urban SP KKN Anburajan
Tirupati: Urban SP KKN Anburajan has assured people of conducting elections in free and fair manner.
Speaking exclusively to The Hans India here on Wednesday, the SP explained in detail about various security measures taken by Urban police as per the Election Commission of India orders. He mentioned that additional police personnel will be deployed in sensitive and hypersensitive polling booths. Anburajan stated that the ECI allotted 3 CISF battalions for election security under Tirupati Urban limits and they will be reaching pilgrim city in a day or two.
In addition to CISF battalions, the ECI sanctioned APSP personnel for election bandobust, he informed. To prevent flow of money, the SP said 11 check posts were set up for vehicle checking. To a question, the official stated the police administration has identified 236 polling stations as most problematic out of 836. "We will be installing CCTV cameras to monitor the security round the clock from command control centre in problematic villages," he said.
Anburajan warned anti-social elements of taking stringent action if they try to create trouble on the day of polling. He gave a call to public to exercise their franchise without fear. The Urban SP urged residents to inform police if they find any suspicious bags or people loitering in their surroundings.
